About the Film

“People of Steel,” directed by Serhii Fomenko, is a powerful documentary that tells the real-life story of the defenders of Mariupol and their families. The film sheds light on their extraordinary courage during the siege of the city from February to May 2022 and the ongoing fight of their families for the freedom of loved ones still held captive. These brave soldiers not only protect Ukraine but stand as a shield for global safety and peace.

This event is part of the international marathon “Culture Against War: 1,000 Days of Resilience,” which marks 1,000 days since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. The marathon aims to share the truth about the impact of war while showcasing the unbreakable spirit of the Ukrainian people through cultural events worldwide.
